This site makes claims about prices, so here is exactly how it works.
Where do the prices come from?
Prices are collected from the operators' own websites — Heinemann, Unifree, Avolta/World Duty Free, Setur Duty Free and authorized retailers in Turkey. Marketplace and grey-market prices are never collected. Every price row links to the page it came from.
Is the shelf price the same?
The prices we collect come from the operators' ONLINE PRE-ORDER (click & collect) catalogues — the price you pay when you order before your flight and collect at the airport. The in-store shelf label may differ; operators can run online-only promotions. One thing we measured: at Istanbul Airport, Unifree's DEPARTURE and ARRIVAL stores are separate catalogues, but across 22 products the prices were identical (promotions included) — which is why we show one price per airport.
How often is it updated?
We re-check the catalogue in daily batches, so a full pass takes about a week. Turkish retail prices (Boyner) are refreshed three times a day because promotions there start mid-day. Each price shows the date it was taken; rows that have not been refreshed for a long time are flagged on the page. Freshness rules: a duty free price older than 31 days cannot be picked as "cheapest"; a Turkish retail price older than 14 days is not shown at all (these prices change very often). We do not expect you to trust a price without seeing its date.
What does the trust score mean?
It is not shown on the page; it is used as a supporting signal when choosing the featured products on the home page. It combines two things: the source of the price (the operator's own catalogue scores highest, an estimate lowest) and its freshness (the score decays over time). It is not a claim of certainty — it is a signal of how much weight that row deserves.
Promotion dates
If a price is promotional and the end date is known, once that date has passed the price no longer enters the comparison — we do not know what the price became after the sale, so that row cannot be "cheapest" until it is observed again. The comparison is made for today, not for your flight date.
Why do some products show a single price?
We can only compare a product once we find it at more than one operator. Single-price products appear in listings but get no comparison page — offering a comparison when there is no second price would be misleading.
What exactly does the Turkish retail price show?
We record the price DISPLAYED on the product page that day — neither the list price nor the final amount you pay at checkout. Two reasons: (1) when a retailer runs a price-level campaign the page usually shows only the discounted price; if a struck-through list price is published we record it too, but most of the time there is none, so we cannot always separate the discount; (2) cart-level offers such as "X% off in basket" never appear in the product-page price at all. So our comparisons rest on each side's advertised price that day; during campaign periods the real gap can differ from what we show.
